Art for a kid's room?

Two things I'm obssessed with right now, art and children's rooms. The two together can be SO much fun! I go through strong creativity phases, usually it's related to my home, but lately I have the strong desire to create art! Maybe it's this spring weather, I don't know, but I've got some wonderful ideas up my sleeve! I can't wait to one day decorate my own child's nursery and bedroom, but in the meantime I have to live vicariously through others. I stumbled upon Christopher Corr who is an illustrator who creates these amazingly colorful scenes, that remind me of Picasso.
Take a look...

I LOVE the goats and elephants!

Hope you have been inspired today!

Before I begin, let me just say I'm blogging while on Benadryl, so bare with me.(: I've been following Hello Splendor for a while now, but I just realized that Beth also has another blog, Pulp Design Studios.

My table hates me!

Everyday when I look into my sad little dining room, I get the most guilty feeling when I see my bare unattended to table. I remember the good ole' days when it was covered in china, and napkins, and new flowers almost every week...what happened? Now it has a very thing layer of dust, and a pile of grass seed bags and a weed killer spray bottle on one chair. I know it hates me, but not for long! I have found some Easter inspiration, that can also carry over into a Spring theme! Even if you're not hosting, it's nice to have a fun and fresh tablescape.

Here's what I found from the amAZING Amy Atlas.

A few great kid table ideas....

And from the incredible Martha Stewart ...

How great are those?! Happy table decorating!! Anyone know where I can find colorful tapered candles, preferably in aqua?

Color Moods: A Spring Treat

Love the big punch of coral orange that's sweetly balanced with the deep blue green, and icy gray, and it's all grounded with the light oatmeal. Perfect.

Speaking of spring treats, have y'all had gelato? I lurrrvve it. New favorite.

It's Complicated

That's my relationship status right now..juuusst kidding! I'm talking about the movie! I know I'm really late, but I just watched the movie It's Complicated this past weekend with Meryl Streep and Eric Baldwin. I fell deeply in love with the Santa Barbara house where most of the movie was filmed. I have to be honest with you, sometimes I pay A LOT more attention to the settings in movies than the actual acting. Since we're on the topic, did you see Carrie Bradshaw's apartment in the last Sex in the City movie. Wow. (Disclaimer...I'm not a Sex in the City fan, just couldn't find anything to watch, and I got hooked on her style and her home!)

(kitchen from It's Complicated)

Anyhow, I found out that Nancy Meyers is the writer and director of the movie and lead the design of the sets, she also was the director for Something's Gotta Give, do you remember the lust worthy house in that movie? Oh man. Meyer's eye for design is incredible, so I was surprised to find that she's not designing her own home. She's working with her friend James Radin. I checked him out, and I can see why she picked him!

Do you know of any movies or television shows that have great design? I would LOVE to check them out!

Sunroom Reveal!

Oookkay, this was supposed to be up last Friday! We're having some issues with the internet, but the sunroom is complete! It's such a fun room to be in, the white just refreshed the whole room! Once I decided to paint the floor, I thought the whole room needed a makeover...Here's what it looked like before.

Now after!

I found this sewing table on craigslist, and painted it a soft gray with a seafoam green as an accent color on the handles and feet.

I brought in a twin bed we found at Goodwill and stained it in a mahogany bombay stain. I love the dark wood bed against the white floor, it reminds me of something you would see in a tropical resort.

If you have a sunroom or any room that gets used more in the warmer months, show it some attention, now is the perfect time to get it ready for summer!

What do you think?

The Sunroom Floor

I'm getting started on my spring break project today! Pretty excited. I know I said I was going to work on our dining room but someone said that it would be too big of a project. So, I quickly moved on to something else... our sunroom! I originally wanted to just paint the floor white, but I started thinking and I have a few ideas up my sleeve! It's more of a makeover now. Some people go to the beach on their spring break, I do makeovers! Maybe I'll hit up the tanning bed so it looks like I had an exciting spring break!

Here's the culprit...

Here's my inspiration....

All four from Coastal Living

I finally settled on a room from Serena and Lily as my inspiration floor...I have to keep some things a secret! I should be done with everything by Friday, maybe a peak at the floor tomorrow.

Off to work!
